Non Fungible Tokens (NFT's)

NFTs are best understood as computer files combined with proof of ownership and authenticity, like a deed. Like cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, they exist on a blockchain—a tamper-resistant digital public ledger. But like dollars, cryptocurrencies are “fungible,” meaning one bitcoin is always worth the same as any other bitcoin. By contrast, NFTs have unique valuations set by the highest bidder, just like a Rembrandt or a Picasso. Artists who want to sell their work as NFTs have to sign up with a marketplace, then “mint” digital tokens by uploading and validating their information on a blockchain (typically the Ethereum blockchain, a rival platform to Bitcoin). Doing so usually costs anywhere from $40 to $200. They can then list their piece for auction on an NFT marketplace, similar to eBay.

Roger Davies, a professional TV Cameraman, at one-time working for the BBC and Granada TV, has for many years also taken still image photographs and turned them into digitised works of art. Now he would like to share some of these with you in a series of limited adition prints using the new medium of NFT with an emphasis on this new creative form of expression, and image interpretation.

This gives each new artwork an unique stylisation and crafting from the original high resolution photograph into a NEW subtle and original 'artist's appreciation' of its subject content using individual painting styles and specialist software.

Another aspect which he brings to bear in creation of new NFT-s is that the title of each work is also used to extend the parody beyond the visual impact of the NFT - eg 'N_eff-Tee at the 4th' at Llanymynech (Gallery 3) where backdrop is that the Welsh border cut off the English player from continuing play due to the pandemic - so no play after the 4th Tee!

In a newly minted quartet entitled 'Currents Artworks' the theme is based on images of red and black currants growing in his garden, and so we have 'Alternating Curren-NFT-s' shown above as an animated GIF; plus 'Red Curren-NFT-s' 'Black Curren-NFT-s' and 'Direct Curren-NFT-s' - which will hopefully be perceived as an 'Electrifying Collection' and a worthwhile investment.

At present, a selection of our artworks are uploaded and registered on a third party platform where use of blockchain technology provides an immutable, permanent timestamp and record of each artwork software file which is thereby minted and directly displayed at OpenSea.io in a number of Collections and offered for sale as below.

Tens of thousands of nodes on the Ethereum blockchain act as silent witnesses and, though nobody can see the file thus secured until it’s shared, we have proof of the file itself (what it is), who we are, and when we protected it.

The resulting unique token number is then utilised to provide a proof of ownership, and record of each and sunsequent sale and transfer to a new owner.

Prices shown are indicative and not either a reserve or confirmed bid. Auctions or Sales will run for a timed period after which the items may be withdrawn.

Upon receipt of payment by OpenSea.io, transfer of ownwership is recorded and re-minted on the blockchain and we will provide a high resolution image and certificate showing the limited edition number e.g. 1/100 and QR code showing the registration.

In addition a limited print edition #1/100 will be available, subject to quote, printed on acrylic, canvas or wood allowing a tangible version to be displayed by the NFT owner.
